Living thousands of miles away from my hometown, I’m always searching for flights to either book myself or to convince friends and family to visit. When I search, I usually go directly to the well-known sites such as Expedia or Travelocity. This holiday season, I decided to do some researcand find out the best ways to decipher, search and book travel through the less-known travel sites. I asked for advice from friends, associates and family hoping to get useful feedback. With a little investigating and a lot of advice from those who know, I’ve devised the list below. These sites are not well known, but provide great flight reservation options. Hopefully this information will help you book the most convenient and cost effective flight this holiday season.

New Passport Regulations Spur Deals

With only 27 percent of US citizens possessing valid passports, the new US passport requirements will put a real deterrent on tourism to the previously passport free destinations such as Canada, Mexico, Bermuda and the Bahamas. The passport requirement will be mandatory of visitors traveling to these locations as of January 8, 2007 and of cruise tourists by June 1, 2009.
