How to Lose Your Luggage & Still Have a Great Trip

I am proud to say that I have flown over 79,000 miles on airlines in the past three years and have only had my luggage misplaced once. Luckily, it was on my return trip home and they found it within 24 hours and delivered it right to my doorstep. Lost luggage isn’t as big a phenomenon as people may be led to believe – but when it does happen to you it can seem like a major crisis unless you are prepared. One thing I have learned in all my travels is how to pack so that if my luggage is misplaced or lost for an extended period of time I can manage on what I have carried on with me and not worry about where my other luggage is.

Frequent Flyer Programs – Can They Benefit the Casual Traveler?

No doubt you have heard of frequent flyer programs that are offered by almost all of the major airlines. Promises of free tickets and upgraded service are the main drawing points these programs use to get you to sign up in hopes that you will use their airline exclusively for all your travel needs. What they fail to tell you though is that unless you travel on a monthly basis on long journeys the free tickets and upgrades will be only a pipe dream. So the question becomes can programs such as this benefit the casual traveler?

No, I’m not talking about searching for that slender human propelled boat known as a kayak. There is a new kind a Kayak which was created by the co-founders of Travelocity, Orbitz and Expedia. Kayak.com is a meta search engine that helps consumers find the best travel deals from over 100 other travel sites. I’d like to call it the “Google of Travel.”
